Work with Hilary

Hilary is available as a consultant, music and worship leader, conductor, and lecturer.

HILARY CAN:

  • work with your worship team to develop alternative worship for a season (paperless worship for Advent; ecumenical services for justice initiatives; intergenerational worship as part of a confirmation programme);

  • facilitate a learning day with your choir and/or congregation to break into new worship experiences with interactive singing, play, and improvisation; or

  • give a workshop on a topic or contextualizing an alternative mode of worship (exploring songs of the global ecumenical movement; contemplative worship in the manner of the Taize Community; worshiping across cultures, generations, and for 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion and flourishing)

Potential workshop models:

Congregational Song Leadership Training - A workshop series (half day or full day) designed to empower song leaders—volunteers, staff, choir directors—with techniques for teaching new songs, engaging diverse voices, and leading with confidence. Based on Hilary’s approach in Break into Song, these sessions include step-by-step teaching techniques and real-time practice.

Global & Ecumenical Song Exploration - A workshop for a specific season of the church year or for general singing, focusing on song traditions from global and ecumenical movement. Ideal for worship teams seeking cross-cultural musical inspiration.

Creative Worship Leadership Intensive - An immersive exploration into paperless approaches to music and worship, embodied liturgy, improvisation, and intergenerational participation. Includes guided planning time and customizable resources for themes like Advent, justice commemoration, or confirmation worship.

Inclusive Worship & Anti-Oppressive Practice - A module on inclusive hymn repertoire, choosing expansive language, and anti-oppressive worship design—highlighting meaningful inclusion of 2S and LGBTQ+ communities and multicultural leadership in worship spaces.

“Hilary was able to experientially lead us to deepen our appreciation of congregational song … gently stretching our understanding of the Christian faith, to glimpse a bit of eternity amidst our gathered community.”
